History
Touch for Health is the base of the kiinesiology. Kinesiology is a science as well as an art. It consists of methodes, rules, principles and logical techniques. Next to this it gives the practitioner and client the opportunity to exchange intuition and feelings.
Orthopedic surgeon R. W. Lovett from Boston, USA, publiced in 1932 an article, which described the use of muscle tests. He tested patients with polio and nerve damage to test the failed functions. Due to tests he was able to locate the damage of spinal cord nerves. He described five levels of muscle tests to analyse failed functions.
In 1949 the book 'Muscle testing and function' was written by Henry and Florence Kendall. They continued the work of Lovett. They found out an isolated muscle could give information about the (dis)function of the muscle. Muscle tests became a new science in the area of Academic Kinesiology: the deep analyse of exact movements of muscles and the way these joints move.
The chiropractor George Goodheart DC discovered that people with a specific weak muscle, when they had a specific illness. This confirmed the relation between illness and her influence on muscle reactions. The level of change in muscle reaction was an indication of the level of the illness of the patient.
He began with experiments with muscle tests before and after spine corrections in 1964. He determined the result of the treatment and he checked if the vertebra was back in his place with this method. He discovered a technique (origin-attachementtechnique), which strengthened muscles. The condition of the patient improved.
Kinesiology had a therapeutic value next to a diagnostic value!
His search to other knowledge brougth him to two important studies: Osteopath Frank Chapman DC discovered the relation between the lymphatic system and illness. Blockades of lymphatic streams makes tissue toxic and less functional. He developed the 'Chapman Reflex Pionts', the neurolyphatic points in 1930.
Chiropractor Terence Bennett CD developed a method te recover the health based on a good blood circulation. He also developed a set of Reflex Points, neurovasculair points. These points are based on the head.
Goodheart brought this all together and lay the foundation of practical kinesiology.
